...but you can't take the Midlands out of the girl

Well hello there, I hope you have had a good week. I headed up to the Midlands on Saturday morning, to spend a couple of days with my family and one of my best friends and her little girl. It was a flying visit. I would have loved to have spent longer to catch up with more people. As usual, time was just not available to afford me such a luxury..

Anyway, during this short visit, I fitted in a trip to the early Sunday morning car boot fair (obviously!) of which I will post separately and saw my nan and my brother, which doesn't happen all that often, so that was time cherished and well spent.

I also had a chance to rummage through some (very) old photos. This was an amusing exercise, causing a few laughs and the odd tear! I had asked my mum in advance to get 'the photos' down as I am planning for my 40th birthday party (again, separate post in the planning) and I think I want to base it around a '4 decades' theme, therefore I needed pics for inspiration and this meant going through albums from the 70's, 80's, 90's and noughties to pick out the best for me to refer to in the planning.

The highlight for me, apart from catching up with loved ones, was the garden tour that I so look forward to. Now my parent's garden is not big by any means, but the love and thought that goes into their outside space is something I love to hear about and learn from. I love that there is a story behind each new added feature, new bush, shrub or annual. I love that they don't find but make the time to invest in developing their outside space - something that I continue to aspire to. So, to give you a hint of what their intimate garden space has to offer, here is a taster.....
